Darius Rucker to Headline ‘Quincy 400 Celebration’ on Aug. 2
Country music performing artist Darius Rucker will headline Quincy’s 400th anniversary celebration on Saturday, Aug. 2, at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Grammy Award-winning artist will be joined by Nashville singer-songwriter Austin Williams, known for his viral hit “’90s Rap Mashup,” which has garnered more than 100 million streams.
Tickets for the performance go on sale tomorrow, Friday, March 14, beginning at 10 a.m. These tickets will be available online.
“This is a monumental year for Quincy, and it doesn’t get much bigger than having a first-class performer like Darius Rucker bringing his talent to our historic stadium for a special concert in honor of our 400th anniversary,” said Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch in a media statement shared with Boston 25 News.
Rucker, who gained fame as the frontman for Hootie & the Blowfish, has enjoyed a successful solo career. His work has included his Grammy-winning single “Wagon Wheel” and his latest album, “Carolyn’s Boy,” released in October 2023.
According to a Boston 25 News report, the Darius Rucker concert is only one of many special celebrations planned for Quincy this year. A second concert announcement is expected soon. Additional anniversary festivities will include large-scale family events, history-focused programming, a lecture series with best-selling authors, and more activities.
