Prepare for a musical event in the heart of Hull's Kenberma neighborhood. Hull PorchFest is set for Saturday, Sept. 13, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will deliver a lively music festival with 40 bands from across the Boston area performing a variety of genres, including bluegrass, jazz, blues, hip-hop, and rock 'n' roll.

The band Whiskey Summit, which has ties to Hingham, will be in attendance, as well as Blue Canyon, a band with roots in Cohasset.

Originating in 2007 in Ithaca, New York, PorchFest has grown into a nationwide tradition, with Hull's version standing out as a registered nonprofit supporting local organizations. Funds raised at this year's PorchFest will benefit the Peter Coffman Music Scholarship Fund, established in memory of PorchFest founder and treasurer "Washboard Pete," to provide music lessons and instruments to Hull children.

During the festival, members of the public can catch performances on porches and driveways that serve as stages. The event will create a walkable, bikeable environment bordered by Kenberma and Revere streets, and Nantasket and Beach avenues. Free parking is available in the lot behind Richardson Insurance, courtesy of Bruce Minevitz's generosity.

Food trucks, including MJ's Food Truck, HYT Mobile Kitchen, and Vitamin Sea Brewing, will offer a range of food and beverages at the Nantasket Avenue and Kenberma Street parking lot, where merchandise sales will take place and donations will be accepted.
