Salem has experienced a record-breaking Halloween season so far. With only three days left before All Hallow's Eve officially arrives, city officials report that more than a million people have visited the Witch City.

Throughout October, Salem has been bustling with tourists and locals dressed as ghosts, goblins, witches, and more. All have been taking part in haunted tours, enjoying themed pop-ups, and engaging in lively street performances.

Despite chilly weather, families and visitors from across the country have been enjoying the festive atmosphere. "The fun, outgoing craziness of Salem and the Halloween spirit coming about before the holiday," said Jen Cook, who told CBS News Boston that she visits the city every year with her friends.

The surge in visitors has significantly benefited local businesses, boosting the local economy during this busy season.

"Certainly, hotels, restaurants, a lot of businesses do very well," Essex Heritage CEO Annie Harris said in a statement to CBS News Boston. "It's a bit of a challenge for the city, police, fire, EMT, all that, but basically it's good for business."
