Santa Claus arrived on Straight Wharf to bring joy to the season on Saturday, Dec. 6, during the 51st annual Nantucket Christmas Stroll. The jolly old elf had help with his arrival from Coast Guard Station Brant Point.
According to a Nantucket Current report, thousands of people descended on the community to enjoy a weekend of holiday festivities. Guests filled hotels, inns, and rental homes as the island celebrated its final major event of the year.
During the Nantucket Christmas Stroll, residents and visitors were treated to roaming carolers in Victorian garb, a European-style Christmas Marketplace, craft shows, and performances at multiple venues around the island.
The Nantucket Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the annual Christmas Stroll, promoted the weekend with its slogan "Shine On, Nantucket!"
