The Providence Rink has been named one of the best skating rinks in the country. It earned a No. 6 spot in USA TODAY's 10Best Readers' Choice poll.
The outdoor rink, at 2 Kennedy Plaza in Providence, was the only New England ice skating rink to crack USA TODAY's top 10 rankings.
Here's what USA TODAY had to say about The Providence Rink:
"While The Providence Rink is open year-round for roller skating, come winter, it gets made over to become the city's favorite outdoor ice-skating rink. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., this rink features open skate times to get into the winter mood, as well as skate lessons for beginners, hockey rentals for those who wish to skate before or after open skate, and even ice bumper cars in a smaller section of the rink for added fun."
Opened in 1988 as the Fleet Bank Skating Center, The Providence Rink has undergone several name changes over the years. A $4.2 million renovation completed last year refreshed the rink, including a modernized cooling system.
According to The Providence Rink's website, admission is $9 for adults and $6 for children 12 and younger and adults 65 and older.
USA TODAY's annual 10Best awards highlight the best in travel, food, and lifestyle. A public voting poll chooses the winners after nominations from industry experts.
