Greater Good Imperial Brewing in Worcester is turning the world of brewing beer on its head. The brewery has debuted a low-alcohol beer, Baby Daddy IPA, at 1.3% ABV, marking a new twist on its imperial beer focus.

The recipe blends a modified 5% ABV pale ale with a nonalcoholic production approach to minimize the alcohol while retaining its flavor profile. Baby Daddy IPA delivers a closer-to-full-flavor experience than typical nonalcoholic beers. According to a MassLive report, the beer retains notable hop and malt flavors at reduced intensity. It's similar to low-calorie frozen yogurt in terms of flavor impact.

Brewer Matt Lederer told MassLive that producing a beer with low alcohol yet good flavor is highly challenging and hinges on careful yeast selection, brewing conditions, and ingredient choices.

The Baby Daddy IPA introduction follows Greater Good shifting production of its flagship Pulp Daddy to Harpoon to ease capacity after joining Barrel One Collective. This adjustment has opened the door for more creative brewing initiatives in the future.

Baby Daddy IPA is a limited-time offering available only at Greater Good's Worcester taproom. Its creation aligns with Barrel One Collective's broader approach to foster collaboration with breweries like Harpoon and Smuttynose Brewing.
