The Worcester County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Lew Evangelidis, launched a Random Acts of Kindness Initiative from Feb. 16 through Feb. 20 to spread goodwill and strengthen community ties in Worcester County.
According to a Patch of Worcester report, during that week, Sheriff's Office teams distributed more than 2,500 goody bags containing snacks and bottled water at various public locations, including local businesses. These locations included Worcester Regional Airport, where the bags were given to airport staff and travelers on Feb. 19.
“Our role extends beyond enforcement to building trust and strengthening community relationships," said Sheriff Evangelidis in a news release shared with the Patch. “We were proud to spread positivity throughout Worcester County and remind residents that even the smallest act of kindness can make a lasting difference.”
The initiative emphasized the caring, connected, and community-focused role of local law enforcement. It was inspired by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation, which promotes kindness to strengthen communities nationwide.
According to the Patch, the Random Acts of Kindness initiative received support from local partners, including CareOne at Millbury, Pepsi of Worcester, McCarty Companies, Rockland Trust Bank, and the Worcester County Reserve Deputy Sheriff's Association. The Sheriff's Office thanked residents, businesses, and partners for their participation in this effort.
