Kruser’s Local Catch

Liz Rose-Cantara has spent a lifetime embracing all genres of music. From a young age, she absorbed everything from country to rock and soul. The New England singer/songwriter has opted to write, record and share songs, not genres. Her EP is filled with songs from all walks of life and musical tastes. Meet my Local Catch of the Week, Liz Rose-Cantara from New Hampshire.

What lead the Alexandria, NH resident to get on stage? “Growing up, I was surrounded by family members who shared my love of music.  I remember my first gig at the 4th grade talent show in my grammar school, where I sang my heart out to an audience for the first time.  That experience ignited my love for performing and entertaining.” That’s  what Liz shared on her website.

Find out more about this hard-working, dedicated and talented artist below. Hear her latest release, “Goodbye” which is the  most country song on her current 4 song EP. • The Music

    “Goodbye”

Liz wrote “Goodbye” Goodbye with her former bass player, Phil Dube in 1993. She said, “We were “recording in this in his homemade studio”. Phil passed on 6/8/2006 and I never knew these lyrics written then would mean so much to me today! I am very pleased to get this recorded in Nashville (along with my other 3 songs and MUSIC VIDEO). He would be so proud, I’m sure!!!

  • The Story

    • From: New Hampshire
    • Grew up in: Norwich Connecticut
    • Now lives in: Alexandria
    • Current single: “Goodbye” from the 4 song EP, HERE
    • What lead you to music: listening to my mom sing and growing up in the sixties, seventies the world was full of amazing singers to emulate My first talent show was in the 4th grade and I’ve been singing every chance I have.
    • How long have you been performing: I would say since age 9 (earlier if you count me in front of my mirror with a hairbrush for a microphone pretending to be Diana Ross), however my first professional gig was at age 20 when I joined my first “get paid to sing” band.
    • First country song you learned: Crazy by Patsy Cline
    • How would you describe your sound: Strong and adaptive…meaning it depends on the genre I am singing,, country, rock, and soul.
    • Who inspires you: MANY ppl! However, Patsy has a good mix of country and soul. She brings you in with her voice with this strong yet soothing sound.
    • If you are a band, how did you get your name: In a band right now and the name was already established. We do classic rock and the name is C-Rock. Former band names I have been a part of included the names Showdown and Trigger
    • Dream duet partner: Kenny Rogers but he’s no longer here….so if given the chance Chris Stapleton would be my choice!
    • All- time favorite country songs:  Crazy, Sweet Dreams, Don’t it make my brown eyes blue, Talking In Your Sleep, Blue Bayou, Girl Crush, Tennessee Whiskey, Before He Cheats….. to name a few
    • First country concert: Chris Stapleton here in NH in 2021
    • If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing: Exactly what I do now. I’m a medical assistant in an 8-doctor practice. Reach out and touch somebody and help to make this world a better place to live if you can
    • Day job: Certified Medical Assistant
    • Most proud moment: Recording these 4 songs and the music video in Nashville with OMGNashville and having a music producer, Mark Oliverius anxious to record my vision as well!!!! Not quitting my daydream!! Hearing these songs on streaming platforms e.g. iTunes, Spotify, YouTube to name a few is like….. YES, breathe in, breath out.
    • Crazy thing that happened in your music career: Doing a show in Lake Placid NY and the following morning being woken to get up on stage @ 7am to play for the group of ppl that signed up to get time shares! One of the songs was “Another One Bites The Dust” lol
    • Other things you like to do: Dancing, kayaking, stain glass, flower gardening, camping, painting, beach time (ocean sounds soothe my soul), and the BEST… being with my husband and hanging with my 5 brothers and sister and family. I have an AMAZING family. Blessed in many ways.
    • Fun facts: So someone told me…. I step into the character to the artist I am singing! Well that’s true.. I do have various props on stage for this! A Benatar hat for her songs as well as other rock anthems, a cowboy hat for country songs, a multicolored bandana for Joplin…
    • Mantra: Do more of what I love, less of what I tolerate, and none of what I hate
