Grammy Awards 2024: All The Country Stars Nominated And Performing

For musicians, songwriters and producers, there is no greater honor than a Grammy Award. “It’s an honor to be nominated” is often used in a punchline, but it’s no joke. The nominations are for this award are an enormous honor. Get ready, because it’s all happening Sunday night. And here’s your guide, country music fans. Grammy Awards 2024: All the country stars nominated and performing.

Rising superstar, singer/songwriter Jelly Roll proves the weight of this award show. The multi-genre artist posted an emotional video, after learning of his nomination. Back in November, the “Need a Favor” singer got real in an Instagram post. “I’m not sure if I should post this or not because I’m so emotional, but the greatest honor an artist can ever hear is that they’ve been nominated for a Grammy.” He was clearly tearing up, and having a hard time even speaking. But Jelly wiped his tears and went on to say,  “I got to hear that this morning. I haven’t cried like this since my daddy died. I love you all, man, so f—ing much.”

I love watching the Grammy Awards. Seeing the impact of the nominations and wins in the artists faces and words is powerful. And we all know the red carpet is a must-watch event. Stars from all walks of life and all kinds of music are there to represent their craft and genre. There’s an such a remarkably eclectic collection of people at this awards show, it’s hard not to watch.

How To Watch The Grammys

I can’t wait to see all the live performances!  But, honestly, seeing these talented musicians being honored with awards and hearing their speeches is what it’s all about. With the help of Taste of Country, I share with you, here, the country nominees!  Below, you’ll find everything you need to get pumped up for Grammy Awards 2024: All The Country Stars Nominated And Performing.

It’s all happening this Sunday night, February 4 at 8:00pm. The 66th GRAMMY Awards broadcasts live from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on CBS,WBZ TV  in Boston. And you can stream it live and on demand on Paramount+.

  • Best New Artist: All Genre

    2 country acts are represented this year in the all-genre category.

    Jelly Roll’s star continues to rise. He is certainly deserving. He took his rock and rap career to a new high, entering the country music genre 2 years ago. Since then he’s been “the man.” Everyone wants to record with him and share a stage. The man born Jason DeFord wears his heart on his sleeve, and that makes for great music and great connections with his fans.

    The sweet surprise in this category is the duo the War and Treaty. The War and Treaty absolutely slayed a performance back in November at the 2023 CMA Awards with their song “That’s How Love Is Made.” They had everyone on their feet, jaws dropped. I’m pulling for either of these phenomenal artists, but I believe Vermont’s Noah Kahan, an American artist, will win.

  • Best Country Solo Performance

    And the nominees are…

    • Tyler Childers, “In Your Love”
    • Brandy Clark, “Buried”
    • Luke Combs, “Fast Car”
    • Dolly Parton, “The Last Thing on My Mind”
    • Chris Stapleton, “White Horse”

    Dolly could take this one. But Chris Stapleton is such an awards show favorite, I’m leaning his way in this category. “White Horse” is a jam, and it’s crosses genres, so the chances of Recording Academy members hearing it is greater. I wouldn’t count out Luke Combs’ and his ubiquitous “Fast Car,” especially after just recently finding out that Tracy Chapman is slated to join him for live performance of her song at the Grammys on Sunday.

     

  • Best Country Album

    The nominees:

    • Kelsea Ballerini, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat
    • Brothers Osborne, Brothers Osborne
    • Zach Bryan, Zach Bryan
    • Tyle Childers, Rustin’ In the Rain
    • Lainey Wilson, Bell Bottom Country

    This will be the toughest competition for country artists. Zach Bryan’s self-titled album was a surprising success for such a raw folk, Americana artist and collection of songs. There was much talk of his project across the board . Lainey Wilson jumped into the superstar ring with the release of Bell Bottom Country. Meanwhile Kelsea Ballerini poured out her broken heart and found self-healing in her Rolling Up the Welcome Matt. Brother’s Osborne craftly portrayed their bold and brave in their self-titled album, while Tyler Childers finally got recognized for his creative musical genius. (I’m currently leaning Lainey Wilson’s way)

    This award is monumental honor. Being nominated for an entire collection of work is the ultimate compliment. Kelsea Ballerini shared her joy at hearing her name in the nominations announcement in November.

     

     

  • Best Country Duo / Group Performance

    The nominees here, represent musical duos, groups and song duets. They really should separate duo/groups and musical events (duets). It doesn’t see fair to pit a one time collaboration against a duo who have been performing together as one since inception. At any rate, here are the nominees:

    • Dierks Bentley (Feat. Billy Strings), “High Note”
    • Brothers Osborne, “Nobody’s Nobody”
    • Zach Bryan (Feat. Kacey Musgraves), “I Remember Everything”
    • Vince Gill and Paul Franklin, “Kissing Your Picture (Is So Cold)”
    • Jelly Roll with Lainey Wilson, “Save Me”
    • Carly Pearce (Feat. Chris Stapleton), “We Don’t Fight Anymore”

    I’m at a loss at picking this one. Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves found enormous success in downloads and streams, but not on country radio. But we know the Grammy voters love Kacey and the song is beautiful. Chris Stapleton is also a Grammy favorite, so Carly’s song with him is a strong contender, as is the Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson duet. It’s anyone’s guess in this category.

  • Best Country Song (Awarded to Songwriters)

    These are the songwriters nominated for this prestigious award:

    • Brandy Clark, “Buried”
    • Chris Stapleton, “White Horse”
    • Morgan Wallen, “Last Night”
    • Tyler Childers, “In Your Love”
    • Zach Bryan (Feat. Kacey Musgraves), “I Remember Everything”

    No song was more impactful and more heard than Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night.” But he’s been dupped by awards shows before. It would be nice to see him finally recognized by his peers. I’m guessing this one will go to Zach and Kacey but I hope I’m surprised by the Academy showing love to a popular artist.

  • Live Performances

    The only country artist slated to perform at this year’s Grammy Awards is Luke Combs. But, this just in… Variety reports that Tracy Chapman will be joining Luke Combs for his multi-week, multi-platinum version of her song, “Fast Car.” And get this, according to the publication, Tracy Chapman has “regularly performed publicly in over a decade.” Last summer Chapman told Billboard she “never expected to find (herself) on the country charts.” However, she did say she was “honored to be there,” and expressed that she was grateful that so many more people have now heard her song.
