Dolly Parton’s Million Dollar Donation To Hurricane Victims
Dolly Parton is a native of East Tennessee, and anytime something happens in her native home, she steps up and does something about it. And that’s the case with the Hurricane Helene victims that affected North Carolina, South Carolina, and her beloved East Tennessee.
Dolly appeared in a black-and-white dress and held a press conference in a Walmart parking lot in Newport, Tennessee, a place she said was so close to her home that Newport is where they went to the dentist when she was growing up.
Parton stood in the midst of what she called “her people” in the Walmart parking lot on Friday (10/4) and gave details about how she was donating $1 million out of what she called her “personal bank account” and then her properties of Dollywood including Dollywood Parks & Resorts, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show, and the Dollywood Foundation are going to donate another million to the victims of Hurricane Helene.
In addition, Walmart is increasing its commitment of $6 million to a $10 million donation to hurricane relief efforts.

Dolly said in part, “I mean, who knew in our little part of the country here, where I was born and raised just right down the road, that we would have this kind of devastation? And I look around, and I think: These are my mountains. These are my valleys. These are my rivers flowing like a stream. These are my people. These mountain colored rainbows. These are my people and this is my home. “
She added, “I really, really wish that we were all together for another reason, but we all have seen the devastation.”
Along with Tennessee, Hurricane Helene affected residents in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Virginia, with the death toll rising to over 200.
