Aldi Opens Its First Store on Cape Cod
Aldi has opened its very first location on Cape Cod on Thursday (November 14).
The popular Germany-based grocery retailer has taken over the space once occupied by a Christmas Tree Shops store at 39 Davis Straits in Falmouth. It’s open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
This new location is part of Aldi’s goal of significantly expanding in the United States. Back in March, the retailer shared a press release announcing its commitment to opening 800 new stores in the U.S. by 2028. They are investing $9 billion in this goal.
Aldi CEO Jason Hart said in a statement, “With up to 40% savings on groceries, new customers are inspired to try us out, and existing customers keep coming back. While price is important, we earn their loyalty by stocking our shelves with only the best products and offering a quicker, easier, and more enjoyable shopping experience.”
Aldi, much like Trader Joe’s or Costco, has developed a passionate online fan community. A simple internet search for “Aldi fans” will yield countless news results boasting about some of Aldi’s most popular items.
In September, Aldi announced the results of its 2024 Fan Favorites Survey. In the sixth annual survey, Aldi shoppers/superfans picked their favorite items for a wide range of categories that included “Charcuterie Favorite” and “The Internet Made Me Buy It.”
Lone Spirit Christmas Store in Mass. Finally Open
For those looking forward to Spirit Christmas, the spin-off store of Spirit Halloween, the only location in Massachusetts is now open.
Located in a former Christmas Tree Shops location at 65 Faunce Corner Mall Rd. in North Dartmouth, this Spirit Christmas location is open seven days a week Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The North Dartmouth location is one of ten Spirit Christmas stores open this year. Similar to Spirit Halloween, Spirit Christmas sells anything and everything related to the holiday including a variety of decorations, candy, stocking stuffers, and even photos with Santa Claus.
The company said in a statement to USA Today, “Spirit Christmas is a new concept for us, and we’re hopeful it will resonate with our customers. Our goal is to create a festive retail experience that captures the spirit of the season, much like we do for Halloween.”
