AMC Theaters Plan To Open Again In July
Last we heard, AMC Theaters were in deep financial trouble, stemming from the pandemic, and were planning on initiating closures throughout the country.
Now, we get word that the popular chain plans on reopening most of their theatres come July. AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron released a statement saying, “These are truly unprecedented times. We are confident we are taking the necessary steps on a broad array of fronts to ensure AMC’s future success as we navigate these turbulent and uncertain times.”
After suffering reported losses of $2.18 billion in the first quarter of the year, most thought it was the end of an era for the movie giant.
Of course when and if AMC does open, it will be with new rules and guidelines for employees and guests, including the following:
- Maintaining close contact with officials to understand and coordinate requirements under which they can reopen.
- Consulting with faculty from Harvard University School of Public Health for guidance on how best to create a safe environment for our guests and associates. This will include using personal protection equipment, following new cleaning protocols, limiting theatre capacity, and having blocked seating.
- Looking at high tech solutions to aid in sanitization, including the use of electrostatic sprayers, HEPA vacuums, and upgraded MERV 13 air ventilation filters.
- Establishing a protocol partnership with the Clorox Company so they can advise on making the theaters as safe and clean as possible.
