18 of The Most Outrageous, Shocking and Iconic Episodes of The Jerry Springer Show

Jerry Springer has passed away yesterday (April 27, 2023) of pancreatic cancer. Jerry was 79 years old. According to Springer's friend and long time publicist Jean Galvin "“He’s irreplaceable, and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humor will live on.” The Jerry Springer Show ran from 1991 to 2018 and was a ratings success because of its off the wall antics. Many episodes there would be physical confrontations over lover triangles that prompted security guards to intervene and prompted the crowd to chant "JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!" At the end of every show, Jerry always had a positive message. One that he wanted his audience to walk away with. He ended every show with the phrase "Take care of yourself, and each other." One of Jerry's most infamous security guards, Steve Wilkos, even went on to have a talk show of his own. He released a statement after the news of Jerry's passing became public. According to Wilkos' statement: “Other than my father, Jerry was the most influential man in my life. Everything I have today I owe to Jerry. He was the smartest, most generous, kindest person I’ve ever known. My wife and I are devastated. We will miss him terribly.” Jerry's family is asking fans not to send flowers. Instead, they're asking to carry on Jerry's kind spirit and make a donation. According to the statement: "To remember Jerry, the family asks that in lieu of flowers you consider following his spirit and make a donation or commit to an act of kindness to someone in need or a worthy advocacy organization. As he always said, 'Take care of yourself, and each other.'” In honor of Jerry Springer, we wanted to relive some of the most outrageous moments from The Jerry Springer Show over the years.
