Reba McEntire loves Christmas and releasing Christmas albums. In fact, she has done so four times in her career, releasing her first Christmas album Merry Christmas To You, in 1987. This year (2022), she released  Reba: The Ultimate Christmas Collection, which is a collection of Christmas songs she has released through the years. The new work includes only one new song, “I Needed Christmas,” released in 2021 from her Lifetime TV movie, Reba McEntire’s Christmas In Tune.

  This is such a fun song, and as Reba sings it, it sounds like she wrote it and makes it her very own adding her son Shelby's name into the song. The song was written by Tommy Boyd in the 1950s and sung by his 13-year-old son Jimmy Boyd in 1953.
