Our friends at House Method decided to take a closer look at rom-coms and figure out what the most popular romantic comedy is in each state. To get this data, they surveyed 4,629 Americans and asked them to choose their favorite romantic comedy of the century.
Here’s what they found:
- The most popular romantic comedy in the U.S. is The 40 Year Old Virgin, which won votes in 19 states.
- In second was Bridesmaids (11 states), followed by 13 Going on 30 (4), 500 Days of Summer (4), and Wedding Crashers (3).
Vermont: Bridesmaids
Bridesmaids was the second most popular romantic comedy in the US.
Rhode Island: 500 Days Of Summer
500 Days of Summer was the fourth most popular romantic comedy in the US.
New Hampshire: My Big Fat Greek Wedding
My Big Fat Greek Wedding was the most popular romantic comedy in both Rhode Island and Arkansas.
Massachusetts: 40 Year Old Virgin

Maine: Bridesmaids
