Ladies, where would you like to be taken on a first date? Or better yet, where wouldn’t you like to be taken on a first date? I’m sure you have a list and each person’s list is going to be vastly different. Or is it?

The “music/entertainment/business” company @DuvalPromo on IG did a survey where they asked women where they would NOT like to be taken on a first date and the answers have been causing quite the controversy on social media. People are discussing the problems with each one or agreeing with some and not others. Either way, we wanted to take a look at the list and see whether or not you agree. But before we do that, let’s take a look at first dates in general and what type of date is a good ice breaker for people to get to know each other.

When considering first dates, you need to make sure you consider a couple of things. First, make sure the date isn’t too long. Because if you aren’t hitting it off with this person, the last thing you’d want to do is spend more time with them than you want. Also, make sure you are going somewhere you can talk so you can get to know each other. Movies may seem like a great idea, but can you really talk to each other and get to know each other during a movie date? No. These things being said, let’s take a look now at some of the items that made this list. For the sake of keeping it concise, we are including the top 13. • 13. IHOP

  Now IHOP for most people is a great breakfast place when you want something affordable and accessible. But we can only imagine, many women wouldn’t be impressed with this for a first date for a few reasons. Maybe they think a man is being cheap. Or maybe, they don’t think a breakfast place would be a great starting point.

• 12. A buffet

  Okay, there are several reasons a buffet may not be a good idea. One, they are considered cheap (although there are many that aren’t.) Buffets can be considered cheap but they can also be germ traps.

• 11. Red Lobster

  Thankfully for us, there aren’t many Red Lobsters in Massachusetts. We have the best seafood in the country so Red Lobster won’t cut it here. Although those cheddar biscuits are amazing.

• 10. Wingstop

  Wingstop really does have great wings. But think of how messy this could be. Eating wings brings out the worst in some people. Do you really want your first date to expose how messy of an eater you are?

• 9. Buffalo Wild Wings

  Same reasons as Wingstop. Do you really want to be messy on your first date? Although, they don’t just have wings at Buffalo Wild Wings so this one is potentially a head scratcher.

• 8. Any fast food chain

  Okay, this one may be self explanatory. If you’re trying to impress a date for the first time, fast food isn’t the way to go. It screams “I’M CHEAP!”

• 7. Your House

  Unless you just want to have sex, taking her to your house house should NOT be an option. This screams “I just want to hook up with you.” But if that is your goal and your ONLY goal, go right ahead.

• 6. The movies

  We mentioned this above. If you’re at a movie, there is NO way you can get to know them. How are you going to talk/chat if you’re in a dark theater watching a movie?

• 5. Olive Garden

  Olive Garden has a bad reputation, especially from Italians. They feel it’s frozen food and not REAL italian food. It’s sort of a joke in the Italian community. But have you ever tried their breadsticks? Heavenly.

• 4. Chipotle

  Chipotle is another “fast food” type of place that many think doesn’t give you the best first date experience. Anyone may be considered cheap if they take their date there. All of their food items are under $15.

• #3 Chili's

  Not sure why Chili’s made this list. Although a story went viral recently where a man was mocked  for not being able to afford an item at Chili’s.

• #2 Applebee's

  Applebee’s is a place where you can get decent food real cheap. Plus, you can really get to know someone and have good conversation. The only reason we feel this made the list is that the person maybe considered “cheap” as it’s more casual than fancy.

• #1 Cheesecake Factory

  You may have seen the viral video of a woman refusing to go to the Cheesecake Factory for a first date. The woman was slammed because she feels she should not be taken to a “chain restaurant” for a first date. Well in this case, this chain is #1 on the list.
