It’s here! Colors popping, allergies acting up, dining alfresco…it’s all part of Springtime in our great city. Time to get out and enjoy life. There’s plenty to see and do and here are just 5 fun things to do in Boston this month.

I’ve lived here most of my life so there are the usual suspects of things to check out. But I searched for inspiration outside my knowledge and found aplenty at Time Out Boston. So, here, you’ll find a collaborative effort of cool things to check out in Boston.

Fun Things To Do In Boston…Like What?

Fun things to do in Boston like… getting out on the water. How about having a cold one at a beer garden in the city? Or take it to the streets for alfresco dining! Even just a walk around the Public Garden is a day well spent.

More and more areas in Boston are opening up outdoor space for events. Did you know you can get a good workout in for free in the Seaport for the next several months? You’re about to find out more about all of these wonderful things to see and do in Massachusetts.

Mother’s Day: Always one of the fun things to do in Boston

Mother’s Day is almost here. At the Arnold Arboretum, it’s a popular time of year because of their Lilacs Sunday event. This is a very special day. And this year marks the 114th year of this spectacular day. You’ll see thousands of flowering plants at the Arboretum in May, but only one gets singled out for a day of observance, and that is Lilac Sunday, this Mother’s Day.

Of course, Brunch is always a fab thing to do with mom. Did you check out THESE brunch spots in the Boston area yet? They were just named among the best in America!

The options are endless, but here I will focus on just 5 fun things to do in Boston this May! Enjoy.

  • 1. Shake It Off And Sweat It Out In The Seaport

Seaport Sweat is back…for the 9th season!  From now until September 28 you can go to the Seaport Common for free sweat seshes. These free outdoor workouts offer yoga, HIIT and dance classes from professional instructors representing brands like lululemon, Equinox and Rhone, according to Time Out Boston. Get the schedule HERE.

  • 2. Set Sail On A Swan Boat

The Swan Boats are back in Boston. And this is such a beautiful, serene way to enjoy all the colors of the season at the Public Garden. Get all the information HERE! It’s $4.50 well spent!

  • 3. Grab A Cold One On The Greenway

Night Shift Brewing Company is the new kid on the block. At least it is at the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston. They’re new beer garden in Dewey Square now open. It joins Trillium’s outside spot in the same area. This is 3rd outdoor garden from Night Shift.

  • 4. Shop, Eat, Art at SoWa Open Market

The South End is bustling because SoWa Open Market is open for the season. The hugely popular farmer’s market and more is one of the largest open-air farmer and artist markets in Boston. You’ll find a large variety of “regional and local vendors, plus food + beverage trucks, nestled among artist studios, galleries, and retail shops on the pedestrian-only Thayer Street, the SoWa (South of Washington) community becomes a vibrant gathering place every Sunday, May – October.”

  • 5. Dine Alfresco

Tables have taken over sidewalks in Boston, up and down Newbury Street you’ll find so many options. But how about trying out some place new, with a back yard secret garden type of setting and a bar conveniently located right there on the patio! That’s what you’ll find at one of my favorite outdoor dining spots, The Bowery on Dorchester Ave in Dorchester’s Lower Mills area. It’s picture perfect, and the food is delish. Not to mention, those coconut margaritas!

For other great outdoor dining places around Boston, Time Out has a bunch for you to check out, HERE.
