1245 Cambridge St, Cambridge

This spot comes up on many lists, when we're talking grilled cheese. All-Star makes their popular grilled cheese with these 4 simple ingredients: Sharp cheddar cheese, American cheese, and béchamel on rustic white bread. (béchamel is a rich white sauce of milk, infused with herbs and seasonings)

At Cutty's you can treat yourself to some seriously gourmet grilled cheese options. As Food Lens tells it there's selctions like:

"Well buttered white or wheat bread stuffed with creamy, mild havarti and add-ons like ham, bacon, and fried shallots. Other options for grilled cheese enthusiasts include a pimento cheese version with a zesty house-made spread; and the Rabe T.J., which is a panini-style press of melty mozzarella, sharp provolone, tomato jam, and bitter, nutty broccoli rabe."

5. Roxy's Grilled Cheese -multiple locations

292 Mass. Ave., Cambridge

485 Cambridge St., Allston

Boston Magazine raved about this cheesy spot, calling it the "city’s pioneering gourmet-grilled-cheese purveyor, known for beloved classics (like the three-cheese blend of Vermont cheddar, fontina, and muenster) as well as playful riffs: Take the hot honey bacon sandwich, with its drizzle of chili-spiked nectar that is pure spicy and sweet (and salty, and savory) heaven." They noted there are plenty of other options like herbed goat cheese and fig to add on.  Yes, cheese! Roxy's Grilled Cheese food truck is legendary.

6. Committe -Boston

50 Northern Ave, Boston

It won't take a committee to choose this popular downtown restaurant. Boston Eater digs their grilled cheese. The committe here votes yes, overwhelmingly.
