Welcome to the first edition of a new series that will drop every Tuesday called “Ben’s Songs You Need To Hear!” As you know, I handle the afternoon shift on Country 102.5, but I also serve as the station’s music director. It is my responsibility to curate our music selection and stay on top of all of the latest hits that are coming out of Nashville. Therefore, I think that you’ll love the songs that I am keeping an eye (and an ear on). Let’s get into it!

  • 1. Rascal Flatts & Jonas Brothers - "I Dare You"

Here’s a song that just came out on Friday. It is the first collaboration that Rascal Flatts has put out with the Jonas Brothers. The song is going to be a massive hit, I predict. It has given Rascal Flatts the biggest launch of a song in their 25 year music career. It also is a monumental song because it’s the first that the group had dropped in over 4 years. Shay Mooney from Dan + Shay is a writer on the song, and it’s definitely something that you need to give a listen!

  • 2. Morgan Wallen - I'm The Problem

I am so happy that we have been getting some new music from Morgan Wallen recently. He just dropped this new one “I’m The Problem” on Friday and his fans are already loving it. The name of the song and the tour that he just announced share the same name.

  • 3. Ella Langley - Weren't For The Wind

Ella Langley is somebody that I have been rooting for. I think that she has one of the best female voices in country music, and she just got her big moment at the top of the charts for the first time with her friend Riley Green. Coming off of that success, Ella released this one as a single, and it’s showing some great signs of becoming a huge hit for her. You have to check this one out.

  • 4. Kane Brown - Backseat Driver

Here’s my favorite song that Kane Brown has ever put out. I know, a bold statement, but when a song has a message like this, it’s hard not to be a huge fan. Without spoiling, the song shares the moments between a father and a child during a car ride that may seem ordinary, but looking back, they are beyond meaningful.

  • 5. Keith Urban - Straight Line

There’s nothing like a jam from Keith Urban. He has been responsible for crafting some of my favorite country songs of all time, and this one is a perfect summertime anthem. Definitely worth a listen if you’re a huge fan of early Keith Urban with a flare of modernness.

  • Check Back Next Tuesday!

Make sure you head back over next Tuesday for another edition of Ben’s Songs You Need To Hear! Hopefully you enjoyed my insights behind some of country music’s hits in the making, but more importantly, that you enjoyed giving them a listen!
