Today is National Beer Day! It’s a perfect excuse to go out with your friends after work and have a few cold ones. Whether you’re a fan of lagers or ale, this day is a dream for all of you beer lovers out there.

We want to help you celebrate, so we’ve compiled a list of some of Massachusetts’ best breweries around. Remember to drink responsibly and always have a buddy system in place.

So without further ado, here are the best breweries to go to in Massachusetts on National Beer Day!

  • Trillium Brewing Company

    Multiple Locations: Canton, Fort Point, and Fenway are open year-round while their beer garden in The Rose Kennedy Greenway and their farm in North Stonington, CT are seasonal.

    Hours: Vary depending on the location

    Trillium Brewing has been a New England staple for a long time. Multiple locations all across Massachusetts, as well as their farm located in North Stonington, CT. 

    You have your choice between hoppy, roasty, crisp, or sour & wild. Within those types, there are so many choices and you’ll always find a beer that suits your taste. Sit in their outdoor seating area and enjoy what Trillium has to offer! 

  • Tree House Brewing Company

    Multiple Locations: Charlton, Tewksbury, Sandwich, Deerfield, and Woodstock, CT.

    Hours: Vary depending on the location

    Going to the Tree House Brewing Company requires you to make plans ahead of time. It gets very busy. They have a total of five locations with four being in Massachusetts and one being in Connecticut. Before you go, buy your tickets ahead of time online, and from there you can either go to purchase cans, go the draft route and choose which bar you want to go to, or you can do both. This unique experience is worth it and they serve their own beers too!

     

  • Samuel Adams Brewery

    Multiple Locations: Boston, Jamaica Plain, Cincinnati, OH

    Hours: Vary depending on the location

    This popular beer was founded right here in Massachusetts. They have a total of three taprooms with one being in Cincinnati, Ohio and the other two being right here in Boston. 

    Grab a Boston Lager and check out either taproom here in Massachusetts in the name of Sam Adams!

  • Jack’s Abby Brewery

    Location: 100 Clinton Street Framingham, MA 01702

    Hours: Closed Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday-Thursday (12 pm-9 pm). Friday-Saturday (12 pm-11 pm). Sunday (12 pm-9 pm)

    If you are a fan of lagers, Jack’s Abby is the place for you. They specialize in lagers. Whether you want to try one of their core lagers like the Banner City or go with one of their specialty lagers like the Mass Rising, this is a spot only found in the metro west that will certainly exceed your expectations. They also serve some other beers like seltzer and cider. Go check them out!

     

  • Night Shift Brewing

    Multiple Locations: Boston Lovejoy Wharf, Everett, Level 99 in Natick, Encore Boston Harbor. Seasonal beer garden locations are in the Boston Esplanade and Allston

    Hours: Vary on the location

    If you’ve ever seen an owl on a beer can at a local liquor store, then that beer most likely came from Night Shift Brewery. Located in multiple locations in Massachusetts, this brewery specializes in hoppy products. Whether you’re in the mood to try their Whirpool Hazy Pale Ale or their Santilli American IPA, Night Shift has plenty of core products. They also have their own seltzer called Hoot Hard Seltzer, as well as their own coffee. Hoot! Hoot! Go check them out!

  • Greater Good Imperial Brewing Company

    Location: 55 Millbrook Street, Worcester, MA 01606

    Hours: Closed on Mondays. Open Tuesday-Thursday (12 pm-10 pm). Open Friday-Saturday (12 pm-11 pm). Open Sunday 12 pm-7:30 pm).

    This central Massachusetts staple always has a wide variety of choices. They’ve already begun the promotion of their new summer ale called Salty Summer. They currently are serving two special edition beverages. One is the Fossilized Happy Amber Ale and the other is the Brew Sky Lager. Go check out Greater Good if you want to try those drinks before it’s too late and see what other great beers they have on tap!

  • Vanished Valley Brewing

    Location: 782 Center Street Ludlow, MA 01056

    Hours: Monday-Thursday (12 pm-9 pm). Friday and Saturday 12 pm-10 pm). Sunday 10 am- 7 pm).

    If you live in western Massachusetts, we recommend heading to Vanished Valley Brewing in Ludlow. This brewery serves its beer. They specialize in IPAs and ale. Their Milkshake NEIPA series which includes Orange Creamsicle and Boysenberry Raspberry sounds like it would taste incredible. Go check out what they have on tap!

  • Aeronaut Brewing Company

    Multiple Locations: Everett, Somerville, and Allston (seasonal)

    Hours: Vary on the location

    If you want a good time, head over to Aeronaut Brewing. They specialize in IPAs, sours, and lagers. Whether or not you want to try their Hop Hop & Away IPA or their First Steps On A Sour Planet sour ale, they have plenty of choices. Their cannery is located in Everett, their brewery is located in Somerville, and their seasonal beer garden is in Allston but it’s not open until 5/18. By the way, they do a dodgeball game every Wednesday which sounds fun!

  • Harpoon Brewery

    Multiple Locations: Boston, MA, and Windsor, VT

    Hours: Vary depending on the location

    One of the classics. This longtime staple which began right here in Boston is known for the Harpoon IPA which is also known as New England’s original IPA. You can also try their Juicer Hazy IPA, the New England Pale Ale, or their Summer Style New England Blonde Ale released for this summer. Go check out this brewery that has been open now for 30+ years!

  • Cape Cod Beer

    Location: 1336 Phinney’s Lane, Hyannis MA 02601

    Hours: Closed Monday-Tuesday. Wednesday-Saturday (12 pm-8 pm). Sunday (12 pm- 6 pm).

    If you live on the cape, then you may have heard of Cape Cod Beer. This brewery located in Hyannis serves the Cape’s original craft beer. They serve their beer starting with their year-round beer which includes the Beach Blonde, the Red, the Porter, the Pilsener, and the Narrow Lands. They serve seasonal beer and specialty beer as well. Check out what else they have on tap and visit them!
