Boston's Most Dangerous Rotaries

We know them all. Sadly, we are very familiar with Boston’s most deadly, dangerous rotaries. It’s one of 712 reasons that working from home wasn’t so bad.

Massachusetts  drivers always make the top five in worst drivers. BUT, in our defense, the odd and difficult road system in our great city was not built for modern day driving. When New York City and Chicago are considered easier places to drive, you know we have our hands full.

According to a 2021 Boston.com poll:

…in the responses to our latest poll asking people for their least favorite rotaries in Greater Boston; almost 350 drivers responded, using no shortage of adjectives in doing so: “horrifying,” “terrifying,” and “painful” were all well represented, along with the phrases “hot mess,” “nightmare fuel,” and “hell of all hells.”

Well it’s two years later. Is it worse, or better? We did an informal poll with our listeners, asking where are Boston’s most deadly, most dangerous rotaries we fear?

Our listeners have spoken, and were VERY passionate and specific on our towns circle’s of death. Many that the poll shared the same frightening rotaries. It seems like nothing has changed since 2021. Listeners also added a few famous rotaries that Boston.com didn’t mention.

Stats

6271 viewed our poll.

149 commented, sharing the rotaries they fear the most.

We did not ask listener age, location, or how often they drive, as it was a very informal poll.

But it was clear that they had strong opinions! In all honesty, there are MANY many more dangerous rotaries that our listeners shared! But we thought these were the most shared, and the most familiar. We appreciate our listeners and how they took the time to share these rotaries. Maybe with this intel, folks will drive a little more prepared, armed with this knowledge.

So, are you ready? Buckle up and let’s take our daily scary drive!

Chad Gagnon: Newton Corner, The Circle Of Death.

This rotary seems to be one of the more “popular” hazards according to our poll. I have driven it many times. If you don’t pay attention, you could end up in Watertown, being an hour late for life.

It’s not Boston, but it WAS a world famous death trap before they updated it for the opening Polar Park. To me, still dangerous, and famous!

    Cherie does not agree:

Not Boston but Worcester’s “Peanut” that
replaced Kelly Square, is one of the biggest traffic
disasters on the planet. I actually drive
around the city to avoid it. Even during non
peak times it’s a joke and forget rush hour..
This image shows all the roads and the
direction of traffic. There are also
crosswalks to add pedestrians to the mix.
They took a bad intersection and made it
    10xs worse!
