It is National French Fry Day, and I am here for it! I mean, who doesn’t love fries? They’re crispy, and salty, and warm, and satisfying. And they’re amazing alongside a burger, or even on their own. French fries are pretty much perfect. The very best fries? Free fries.

For years, National French Fry Day was observed on July 13. But last year, fast-food chains Checkers & Rally’s gathered online petition signatures asking to move National French Fry Day to the second Friday in July. Why? So Fry Day could always be on a FRI-day. Love it!

The thing about fries is that there are so many different versions, and everyone has a favorite. There’s regular fries, shoestring fries, steak fries, curly fries, waffle fries, wedge fries, smiley fries, home fries, loaded fries, tornado fries, tater tots, truffle fries, sweet potato fries, and the list goes on and on.

There’s also controversy over HOW to eat your fries. I am definitely a dipper. There is something so satisfying about making sure that each bite will have the perfect amount of ketchup on it.

And then how can we forget the types of things you can dip your fries in. Some people don’t want any dip. There’s the classic of ketchup. But there’s also honey mustard sauce, sweet and sour sauce, a Wendy’s frosty, ranch dressing, cheese sauce, BBQ sauce, gravy, and anything you can think of.

What do you like to eat your fries with? A burger is classic. But there’s always hot dogs, chicken nuggets and anything else you can think of. And who can deny that the most satisfying fries are the ones left at the bottom of the bag.

To celebrate National French Fry Day, several places are offering them for free. So if you want to get your free fries, here’s who has them, and what you need to do to get them. Enjoy!
