He’s a “boy chasing a dream” (as you’ll see noted below), but this boy appears to accomplish more in a day than most adults. There’s school, homework, sports and his dream…singing, songwriting and performing. He does it all. Meet Gavin Marengi from Salisbury, my Local Catch of the Week.
At just 16 years old Gavin has grown-up talent. He sounds so polished for an artist who started performing only a couple years ago, in middle school. I don’t know about you, but knowing that makes me wish I had kept up guitar lessons. Seriously, this dude is impressive.
On his new release, Gavin Marengi shows the rebellious spirit of an Eric Church and a rock romanticism of his hero Stapleton. In addition, this North Shore singer/songwriter has clearly been influenced by Zach Bryan and the current crop of Americana kings. Here, you can listen to Marengi’s latest single, “Back to Boston.” With it’s glaring guitar riffs, this rocker marvels with magnetism. You will be pulled in from the start.
A Star on the Rise
Imagine being that young and that talented, with the whole world ahead of you. There is an ocean of possibilities ahead for Salisbury’s star teenager, Gavin Marengi. When he’s not saving games, in goal, for his high school hockey team, he’s writing lyrics and music for his next release. Or he may be booking his next gigs, working on merch to sell at his shows, all that while the rest of us slackers binge watch Netflix.
Get to know Gavin, hear his music and find out how to follow him on social media, here. This is how you can support our New England singer/songwriters. It takes a lot of time and hard work to pursue a dream. And it also takes a village of support to help make dreams happen. I can’t wait to catch up with this local star in a couple of years and see how bright his star is shining. It’s only just begun for Gavin Marengi.
