I Came Home To Find Out My Wife Had Invited Her Ex-Boyfriend Over For Dinner
Brody’s wife ran into her high school ex-boyfriend at the store and while catching up she decided to invite him home for dinner. When Brody walked in her ex-boyfriend was sitting in the house and caught him by surprise. Is he right to be weirded out by this?
Let’s Here From Brody About His Ex-Boyfriend Drama
Jonathan:
Jonathan: Today for panic button we have Brody. Hey, Brody. So you have a bit of a problem. You came home and there was another man in your house.
Ayla: Whoa.
Brody: Yeah. Pretty much. I was on my way home and literally had just a moment’s notice before I heard that we were having a guest. And it turns out it is some dude named Brian.
Jonathan: OK
Brody: Brian is my wife’s high school ex-boyfriend.
Ayla: Whoa.
Brody: And I had heard of Brian. But I didn’t want him to be at my house.
Ayla: Why was he, Brody? Why was Brian at your house?
Brody: He was there just out of nowhere. Apparently, my wife ran into Brian at the grocery store. Which is fine, I mean, whatever.
Jonathan: So she’s at the grocery store and said, hey, come over for dinner.
Brody: Yeah. Apparently. That’s what she said.
Ayla: And this was her high school boyfriend. Someone that she dated. Did she love her high school ex-boyfriend?
Brody: I’ve heard of him. I know the dude named Brian. We’ve talked about him, but, I mean, I’ve never met him. Yeah, he’s never come over.
Jonathan: He wasn’t at your wedding I assume.
Brody: Right, exactly.
Jonathan: You got a little freaked out by that?
Ayla: Did you then sit down and have dinner with Brian and your wife?
Brody: Yeah, we did. And then, I’m not a jealous person. And she says there’s no romantic anything there. It was high school. I get it. But am I wrong for feeling like that was just really weird?
Ayla: I mean, for sure it’s weird. But if she says there’s no romantic relationship and they’re just friends, do you not believe her when she says that?
Brody: That’s not what I’m saying. I don’t know. Why am I wrong for thinking that it’s maybe inappropriate to just bring him over to dinner? Especially with barely even telling me. I don’t know.
Ayla: I think that’s what’s wrong. I don’t think that’s fair. What do you think, Jonathan?
Jonathan: What’s wrong is that Brody came home and the dude was at his house.
Ayla: That for sure is very strange.
Jonathan: That’s a problem, dude.
Ayla: She didn’t say he was coming.
Jonathan: But not like he’s coming over for dinner. He’ll be over in ten minutes.
Brody: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I came home, this guy was in my house, and my wife was like, oh, I invited him over for dinner. He’s already here.
Ayla: No, I completely agree. That could have been changed and done way better. But I know for a fact there’s going to be numerous people out there listening right now that say, that was so long ago.
Jonathan: I haven’t any friends.
Ayla: People like to be friends with an ex, from high school, my boyfriend, I have no romantic relationship with him right now. We can be friends, especially if 25 years have passed.
Jonathan: 30 years. Exes can be friends.
Ayla: But it’s a little bit weird that he came home and the ex was in the house already. I don’t disagree with you on that.
Jonathan: All right. So, Brody, have you talked to your wife about it? She insisted there was nothing going on and you’re overreacting. And you don’t think you are.
Brody: Yeah, we talked and I love my wife, but I she swears there’s nothing going on. But it’s like it’s her high school boyfriend, not her middle school boyfriend, if you know what I mean.
Jonathan: A little bit older.
Brody: So, I don’t really know. I don’t really feel like I want to come home to any other high school friends.
Jonathan: I don’t blame you.
Ayla: Yeah. And also you couldn’t have brought the girl from the cheerleading squad that you were friends with over.
Brody: Yeah. I would never do that.
Jonathan: You would never bring your high school girlfriend over.
Ayla: Should he, though? Maybe next.
Brody: Yeah, sure. Bad idea.
