Trying to come up with unique, fun experiences for a birthday party is not fun at all. I was racking my brain trying to think of something special to do for my husband’s birthday and was lost. So, I threw some ideas his way to test the waters, and nothing was sticking. Then, a friend told me about a real cool party idea she had seen on TV.  Have you heard of tiny pubs? They are a big hit for parties, I can tell you from personal experience.

Tiny Pubs of Boston was recommended to me by a friend who had seen a feature on Channel 5’s Chronicle show. After considering comedy shows, bowling, dinner in the North End, a distillery and several other options, I had all but given up. This idea seemed like a winner. I mean, you don’t have to leave your home for the party! And best of all, you don’t have to have everyone IN your home. (At least not all at once.)

Everyone Will Love It

The beauty of renting a Tiny Pub is it’s right there, in your yard or driveway. Conveniently, I have all the details below for you. But I have to say everyone loved it! The concept is really well thought-out, down to every detail. You have a choice of the Wee Irish Pub or the Sports Pub. (And another pub concept coming soon). If you know me, you know I love Boston sports, and so does my husband. That was the obvious choice for us.

The Sports Pub was perfect. The Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots and Celtics teams were represented,. And Fenway and the Garden were prominently on display in various ways. The Tiny Pub is easy to get in and out. You can have a bartender work your event, for an added cost. But, trust me, everyone will love playing bartender behind the taps. Think of it as  having a big play house for your adult friends.

Have you heard of Tiny Pubs of Boston? They are a big hit for parties. This I know.

  • A Tiny Bit About Tiny Pubs

Tiny Pubs of Boston operates out of Reading, MA. The company idea was sparked over many nights sitting at a fire pit during the pandemic. Brothers Craig and Matt Taylor thought it was a great way to combine their skills and set up the perfect retirement jobs for them.

They bring the pub to you. You bring the party to the pub. Sure, you’ve got a home you could host your friends. But when you want to do something really memorable, this is a picture perfect idea. As I mentioned, we rented the sports pub for a night and invited friends and family to enjoy the evening. It fits 10-12 people. It has AC and heat (mini-split), refrigerated storage for wine and other drinks, and taps to hook up your kegs. They event had little bags of Cracker Jacks hanging on display at the bar area. Here’s a shot of the back of the Tiny Sports Pub.

  • 2. The Options

There are a few options for your party. The sports pub, the Wee Irish Pub and coming soon a Micro Tap Room. Tiny Pubs is working with Wandering Soul Beer in Beverly on this one. Owner Craig recently shared some sneak peak photos of the Micro Tap Room Speakeasy in the works and the new logo.

The Irish pub has a cozy charm and authentic feel of an Irish cottage, or pub in an Irish Village, as you can see here. It even has an electric fireplace to warm you up, and warm up your Irish whiskey too.

Here’s the view looking from the bar out to the back door. How cute is this?

And here’s a look at the Sports Pub that I rented. It’s truly a sports lovers’ dream. And yes those are authentic yellow benches from the old Boston Garden!

You don’t need a ton of space to fit the pub, my driveway isn’t that big and we had plenty of room for the pub and a tent next to it. We needed the tent because of course it rained. The dimensions are approximately 20 feet long by 8.5 feet wide.

As you can see, we had no fun at all. : )

I love making drinks for friends, and hitting that tap to pour cold beer was like playing restaurant. Just a blast. We stocked the pub with snacks, some wine, soda water, and a couple of liquor choices. There were about 25 people at the party, and everyone took turns going in and out of the pub to sit at the bar, the side stools or the Boston Garden bench seats.
