Could today get any better? It’s Friday, we are reveling in our Boston Celtics win last night, and it’s National Donut Day! (Or doughnut, if you prefer to use the original spelling.) What to do on Donut Day? Celebrate with Free Donuts and deals!

“Salvation Army Doughnut” started in 1917. Doughnuts were first served by the ladies of the Salvation Army. During World War I, the Salvation “Army Lassies” apparently went to the front lines in Europe to serve home cooked food for our troops. Not only did it provide them with nutrition, but it boosted their morale. History revealed that the donuts were sometimes cooked the metal heltmuts of our soldies, in oil.
