Kruser’s Local Catch

Having a background in theater can only ever help elevate your game, whatever it is your playing. For my Local Catch this week, Taylor O’Connor from Grafton, MA, that background helped to bring her to the foreground in a music career. It likely gave her the confidence to write songs and get up on stage to perform them. Musical theater surely helped Taylor to be heard, literally and figuratively. Learning to project in theater is a must, and this singer/songwriter’s vocals are strong. And being given the chance to get up on a stage in the first place, is being given the chance to be recognized as an artist.

This Grafton girl left New England a few years ago for the Nashville dream. There, she has continued to write, record and perform her songs. O’Connor’s vocals are super soulful, but the influences of country and pop never leave the room. They are evident in her latest release, “Back.” It’s that combination that gives Taylor a marketable and memorable sound.

  • Taylor Made Music

Taylor relayed how her new single came to be and what it means to her: “This song is about going back to something you can’t get away from, and once you’re back where you started you can’t take it back. Went into a write with one of my favorite people,  Kate Cameron (also from Mass) and she had this amazing Chorus idea.. she let us take her idea and make it into my latest single!”

Give “Back” a listen here, and you will surely be back to hear it again! Just push the play arrow.
