The headline looks a little bonkers but the story is sweet.

  • The Who

Mary Anne “Marie” Gallant of Gardiner, Maine was certainly one of Alan Jackson’s biggest fans. She was a memorable woman who was a beloved hostess with the mostess at Denny’s Restaurant in Auburn, Maine. Patrons loved her.

  • The Best Night of Her Life

Marie was once was called onstage by Jackson at one of his shows in Portland, Maine and invited to sit on stage while he performed. Maybe it was because of the large portrait tattoo she had of Alan Jackson on her upper right back. Alan even danced with her a bit on stage while performing “Remember When” and commented how awesome it was to have her on stage with him. Marie called that night the best night of her life.

Had a great time bringing MaryAnn on stage at the #KeepinItCountryTour show in Maine. Take a look at that tattoo! Now that's country. http://bit.ly/AJTOUR #25AJ #TourTuesday

  • Marie's Wish

A local newspaper ran a story on Marie a handful of years back – about how beloved she was as a hostess at the Denny’s in town and such. During that interview and in that article Marie stated “When I die, I want my ashes spread over Alan Jackson’s house.”

  • Enter Marie's Daughter

Sadly Marie passed away last year. Now Marie’s daughter Sue hopes to fulfill her mother’s tall wish. She flew to Nashville this past Tuesday on a mission to spread mom’s ashes on Alan Jackson’s home property. Her plan: drop mom’s ashes out of a helicopter onto Jackson’s home below. Is this legal? I have no idea!! A tad cuckoo? I think so. But sweet? Very.

  • Good luck!!

To Sue, good luck! I hope A) you figure out a way to make this happen that will be acceptable to all parties. And B) I hope you make it back to Maine with no hiccups on your record!

Marie went to over 2 dozen Alan Jackson shows in her lifetime. She was a devoted fan. I hope this story can somehow have a happy ending.

I’ll attempt to follow up and let you know what happens.
