Massachusetts favorite beer won’t come as surprise to you, I’m guessing. But some of the other New England states might.
As I said in this piece for National Beer Day, we’re pretty damn lucky to be celebrating in New England. Turns out it’s not just Massachusetts: Rhode Island and Vermont get high marks in the 50-state ranking for beer lovers. And it was only a month ago we were celebrating Mass Beer Week here in the Commonwealth. Foe that second week in March, I went day-by-day and highlighted seven of my favorite local breweries. You can take a look at that list here.
Let’s dig into another list. A report by the team at Upgraded Points surveyed over two thousand drinkers across America on their bar ordering habits. The drinkers were asked about the following: their alcoholic beverage of choice, their classic beer of choice, and their classic cocktail of choice, along with a few other questions. For the sake of this piece and for National Beer Day, I’ve decided to focus on the six New England states and to skip the cocktails and focus on the pints. If you want the full bar menu, you can read the full report here.
Massachusetts Favorite Beer: What We Order at the Bar
Again, I don’t think our top choice here in the Commonwealth will shock or stun you. It’s a long-standing, beloved craft beer. But before we get to that, we’ll take a look at the top picks of our New England neighbors. Maybe one or two of those will make you scratch your head.
Enjoy yourself on this National Beer Day, and please do so responsibly. And if you’re the type that celebrates National Beer Day every day, please take extra special care. Designated a driver if you’re heading out. And don’t forget to stay hydrated.
