Ooooh, neighborhood helicopter rides? That sounds fuuuuunnnnn. Also very, very illegal. A Massachusetts man is going to jail for flying helicopters out of his backyard and there’s more to the story – let’s break it down:

  • WHERE?

    East Brookfield, MA

  • WHO?

63 year old Antonio Santonastaso but I’d give him a much cooler nickname like “Docta Copta” or “Spinny McGee.” Those names are so cool.

  • WHAT?

Docta Copta was busted repeatedly flying a helicopter out of his residential backyard. My question is – where was he going? Was he all “honey, I’m heading off to the market to get some butter! Get to the choppa!!

  • Is that illegal?

Yes. Especially since he didn’t have a license to even fly a helicopter anywhere! Santonastasoused used to have a license to pilot an aircraft  but lost it in 2000 after he helped steal a helicopter from Norwood Memorial Airport. Naughty naughty naughty.

  • So is he going to jail?

Yes. The man was sentenced to 8 months in prison and one year of supervised release. It’s flight simulators on the Dell from here on out. Hopefully.

  • How many times did he hit the open sky?

Not quite sure… but a lot. In 2018 he reportedly flew the helicopter 50 times in 6 months. That’s a lot of helicopter butter runs. And where do you park that at the market? On the roof? Or do you just take up 12 spots like a jerk??

  • Wanna see a video taken by a neighbor?

    OK:

  • Moral of the story?

“Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.”

    (Anyone know who said it?)
