Closeup woman sitting on toilet with tissue paper in hand, selective focus

Callie’s boyfriend is super focused on the environment and has lately been obsessed with wasteful toilet paper. He monitors how much she use and only allows her one or two squares. She feels like this is a bit much so she has been hiding toilet paper in her purse. Callie likes him a lot and appreciates his commitment to the environment, but thinks this may be going to far. Should she continue to date someone so obsessive that he monitors how much toilet paper she uses?

Ayla Brown: And good morning to Callie. How are you? Tell me all about the toilet paper debacle.

Callie: Hi. So my boyfriend and I have been dating for the last six months, and something that really attracted me to him is that we are both super, super passionate about the environment. Like, we started our own garden and we’re really into composting and sustainability. But my boyfriend is kind of next level about it, like he is in all of these environmental groups and wants to save the planet. We bring our own reusable straws everywhere that we go, we don’t use any plastic. Which I love. I love all of that. Okay. I don’t have a problem with any of that. But he started this thing where whenever I want to use the bathroom, he has started allotting me toilet paper squares to use.

Ayla Brown: What does that mean allot?

Callie: So for example, if I go number one, I get one square of toilet paper, and if I go number two, then I get two squares of toilet paper.

Ayla Brown: Is that even possible? I mean, I’m sorry, I don’t want to get into your bowel movements, but it’s impossible. And what’s his reasoning?

Callie: Not really. So it’s all about wanting to save the planet and just reduce, reuse, recycle and everything. But I think that this is getting a little ridiculous. Like, it’s getting to the point where I start putting toilet paper in my purse and I just start escaping and hiding away from him to use the bathroom.

Ayla Brown: I would too, because one square if you go pee. I’m sorry. Any women out there? All right. Now, is that even possible? I don’t think so. Kelly, why are you with this guy? Or is this the only thing that’s a little off?

Callie: This is like the only thing. And honestly, I really, really love him, and I really, really love how passionate he is.

Ayla Brown: You know who else loves him? Leonardo DiCaprio loves him because he’s so passionate about saving the earth. Oh, my gosh.

Callie: I know. I know. So. So basically, my question is, you know, I love him so much, but is this too much? Is this going too far? You know what I mean? Like, what should I do?
