The Patriots have landed in Germany! The Pats will take on the Indianapolis Colts live from Frankfurt, Germany this Sunday with the unusual start time of 9:30am.

We could get into what to expect, crunching records and numbers and performances and who the heck our quarterback will be (just kidding, it’s most likely Mac Jones) but instead let’s talk about upping the experience!

I don’t know about you but I’m pumped to watch the Patriots play live from Germany. Yeah, I know this hasn’t been the ideal Patriots season but forget all about that! This is an event!!

And while some light beers and a little pizza will do for a normal game, this isn’t a normal game!! Tailgate pregaming starts at like 6am!! Let’s goooo!

So I decided to switch out the normal with some international flare! Below are 7 food items that will take your early Sunday Patriots viewing to a whole other level. And by the way while you’re pregaming THIS needs to be your soundtrack. On repeat. Over and over. You’re welcome.

I’ll include a recipe whenever it’s applicable. And now here are 7 Food Ideas with International Flare Perfect for this Sunday Morning’s Patriots Game. Man, I just capitalized so many letters for no apparent reason…

  • BRATS

Grab some Johnsonvilles. Grill ’em. Make a beer bath on your grill in a metal bowl (or some tinfoil). Let them bathe in there for a good long while and finish on the grill again. Delishhhhhhh!!

  • Soft Jumbo Pretzels

You could Google an authentic German recipe… but I’m just hitting the freezer section of my local grocer for some Super Pretzels!! 30 seconds in the micro and you’re inhaling a pretzel!

  • Kölsch

Bud Light, Miller Light, and all the other American brewskis are great for your average Patriots Sunday but this Sunday grab a sixer or 12 pack of Kölsch. Your guests (or your cat) will think you’re so fancy and appropriate!

  • German Potato Pancakes

Mmmm… in Germany they typically serve these pancakes (or Kartoffelpuffer or Reibekuchen) with apple sauce. The game’s at 9:30a so pancakes seem very fitting!

  • Sauerkraut Soup

You just gagged. Sorry. I love me some sauerkraut. I even like typing it. That word is weird. So is sauerkraut soup to some… but I’ve had it… and loved it.

  • German Mulled Wine

German mulled wine is called Glühwein. It means “glowing wine.” It’ll definitely give you that warm “glow” at 9:30 in the morning! Noon is naptime!

  • German Schnitzel

There’s something very special about schnitzel. And banging the crud out of a piece of meat before breading it and frying it will let you get out some of your frustrations about this Patriots season.
