Let me re-shuffle that headline a bit: Massachusetts Town Makes 2023 Safest Drivers in the US List, Surprising Some. That sounds a little less judgey, right? I don’t mean to imply that I feel that drivers in this town are bad drivers. I don’t think that at all, even though it’s the only town I’ve gotten into an accident in in the 20-something years I’ve been a Massachusetts resident/regular. And judging by this new study, not only are they not bad drivers – they’re actually the safest drivers in Massachusetts… and 2nd safest in all of New England! Some high, high praise.

Massachusetts has the third-highest average commute time in the United States, with commuters spending an average of 28.8 minutes getting to work each day.
A study by Allstate Insurance ranked Boston drivers as some of the worst in the country, placing the city 199th out of 200 cities in terms of driver safety.
The Bay State ranked fifth in aggressive driving incidents according to a study by GasBuddy, with drivers in Massachusetts being more likely to accelerate quickly and brake harshly compared to other states.
