It's a holiday tradition like no other. The 2023 Worst Toys list has been released by World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc.
If you're not familiar with W.A.T.C.H., here's a quick primer from their website. "W.A.T.C.H., a non-profit organization, has been dedicated to raising awareness about dangerous toys and other children’s products for over 40 years. Our nationally known “10 Most Dangerous” Toy List and other year-round efforts have resulted in safer products and toy recalls." Important work with real results.
I've been writing a ton about toys lately, as it is the holiday season. If you missed it, you can check my list of Gen X Christmas toys from '80s here, or my Millennial Christmas toys from the '90s here. I also shared a short list of Christmas gifts I found under my tree growing up. So, in the spirit of the holiday season, and because I have toys on the brain, I thought I'd share this year's W.A.T.C.H. list.
The 2023 Worst Toys List Has Been Released
More from the W.A.T.C.H. press release: "Toy safety remains a critical concern during this holiday season, the time of year when the most toys are sold, as evidenced by recent recalls, injuries, and the wide range of potential hazards found in toys available for purchase this year." So if you're shopping for toys for kiddos this holiday season, pay mind to this list before you buy.
And again, this list comes from W.A.T.C.H., not Adam 12 or ROCK 92.9. So this isn't an endorsement for or against these toys or anything related. It's just an act of information-sharing meant to educate and inform. You can consider those last sentences a disclaimer of sorts and this whole piece a public service announcement of sorts.
