The weather is finally getting warmer. We’re all getting out more and enjoying everything that Boston has to offer. Well did you know that the city also has some incredible FREE fitness classes? The Boston Summer Fitness Series offers FREE weekly workout programs held in Boston parks. They have great in-person classes at parks, and if you would rather workout at home, they have virtual classes as well. All classes are led by certified fitness instructors.
In-person classes run every week from May 7 – September 2. Links for virtual classes are below, or if you would rather not have to sign up, you can get the Zoom link by emailing email@example.com. Don’t worry if it’s been a while since you worked out. Classes are open to everyone, regardless of your fitness level.
The great news is there is something for everyone. There are dance classes, yoga, chair yoga, dance, Afrobeats, and Zumba. And as far as location, you can find classes all over the city of Boston. From Dorchester to Downtown, Roslindale to Roxbury, Chinatown to Charlestown.
With so many people trying to save money, FREE classes are a great way to get in shape without breaking the bank. Plus, there are so many great reasons to work out with other people/friends. According to the CDC:
When you work out with a partner, you’re likely to:
- Feel more motivated. When you and your buddy encourage each other, you’ll work harder (and get better results!). And there’s nothing wrong with a little friendly competition.
- Be more adventurous. It’s easier to try new things with a buddy. You may just find an activity you love, one that feels more like fun and less like a workout.
- Be more consistent. When someone else is counting on you to show up, you won’t want to let them down.
So grab a friend and start working out together. Live your healthiest summer ever!
