It’s almost time for America’s oldest country fair, The Topsfield Fair! This year will mark the 205th running of the popular annual event held on the fairgrounds in Topsfield, Massachusetts. Hundreds of thousands of fun-seekers will make their way through the gate to enjoy oodles of activities from competitions to demonstrations. Starting September 29 it’s all about the fun, fried dough and ferris wheels. So grab your tickets and make your plans now. It all starts this Friday. The Topsfield Fair is back with food, rides, giant pumpkins, live music and more!
This year’s Topsfield Fair is highlighted with a concert by country music star Clay Walker. The “If I Could Make A Living” star takes the stage October 6th. Other concerts include Starship, with special guest Foghat, The Drifters, and The Coasters and The Platters together for one night in Topsfield. All shows are free, with your Fair admission ticket.
If you crave action, you’ll want to see the demolition derby, the racing pigs and check out all the amusement rides. The Topsfield Fair is also famous for their giant pumpkin weigh-in, horse shows, and baking competitions. You do not want to miss out on all the fabulous foods at the Fair. There is such a great variety, and you can’t help but smell the fried dough the minute you walk through the gates. If you want to see the famous Budweiser Clydesdales deliver cases of beer to the beer garden, you will have several chances.

Rides And Games at the Midway

The Giant Pumpkin Weigh In
This popular competition includes giant pumpkins from all over New England. It began in 1984 and is still going strong today in the vegetable barn on the Fairgrounds. Last year, a new record was set when Jamie Graham of Tyngsboro, MA brought a pumpkin that would break the 2012 record. His locally grown pumpkin weighed 2,480 pounds!
Arena Shows
The arena will be jammed packed with entertainment for the whole family .Enjoy horse pulling, oxen pulling, sheep dog trials, touch-a-truck, a stock farm tractor pull, a draft horse show, Championship Double Figure 8 Racing using compact, and a demolition derby. Get the days and times HERE.
The Budweiser Clydesdales
According to a recent press release the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales will be delivering beer to the Topsfield Fair beer garden. You will have several opportunities to see these gentle beauties. The horses were first made famous in Super Bowl commercials. Now, they’ll parade through the Topsfield Fairgrounds. See them starting at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, then again on Friday, October 6, as well as at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 7. An 8 horse hitch will be harnessed to the world renowned Budweiser red beer wagon and will make a procession around the fairgrounds.
