Spring has officially arrived which means we can finally say goodbye to cold weather and say hello to some exciting outdoor activities. It’s the best time of the year to enjoy a nice cool breeze on your stroll while taking in the beautiful sunshine.

We want to help you fully enjoy this season so we put together a list of 10 outdoor activities that you can do with your family and friends. From a trip going to see your favorite animals at the zoo, to going on a scenic walk at the park, to learning about some of the history of the great state of Massachusetts. This list will make sure that you’re doing spring the right way. Take a look below and make your plans now!

  • Go to the Zoo

    The zoo officially opens on April 1st and normal hours are from 9:00am-5:00pm during the week and 9:00am-6:00pm on weekends/holidays.

    A fun family activity where you and your family can see all of your favorite animals. This is a great place to spend the day at!

  • Travel back in time and visit Plimoth Patuxet

    The Plimoth Patuxet, the Mayflower II, and the Plimoth Grist Mill are all open seven days a week from 9:00am-5:00pm.

     

    This is a great activity to learn about the history of the pilgrims while also enjoying some performances from the actors and actresses and seeing some historical pilgrim artifacts.

  • Catch a Red Sox game at Fenway Park

    Boston, MA 02215

    The Red Sox kick off their season at Fenway Park on March 30th against the Orioles at 2:10 pm.

    Going to America’s oldest ballpark never gets old. It’s a great way to spend some time with your family while also catching the Red Sox in action.

  • Walk around Boston Common

    The park opens everyday at 6AM and it closes at 11:30pm.

    If you want to take a walk, or sit and just enjoy the scenery, then going to the Boston Common is a perfect way to do so!

  • Hike Wachusett Mountain

    This is another great way to get some exercise while also enjoying nature as getting to the top of the hiking trail is a rewarding experience with a scenic view!

  • Spend some time at Six Flags New England

    Route 159, 1623 Main Street
    Agawam, MA 01001

    The park will officially open on April 7th at 11:00am. Normal park hours will run from 11:00am-7:00pm.

    This is a fantastic day trip to take your kids on. They have everything from rides, games, prizes, and cool characters who walk around the park!

  • See The beautiful plants at New England Botanic Garden

    The garden is open daily from 10:00am-5:00pm.

     

    If you want to explore to see some of the most beautiful plants and flowers in a gorgeous botanic garden, then New England Botanic Garden is the perfect place to do so.

  • Have some family fun at Castle Creek Adventure Land

    Daily from 9:00am-10:00pm

     

    Castle Creek has everything from mini golfing, go-kart racing, and ice cream. It’s the perfect recipe to make your kids some very happy campers!

  • Take a stroll on Harvard University’s campus

    The University’s Center is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

  • Walk the historical Freedom Trail
