Open up this topic of conversation at a dinner party and you are bound to get people fired up. And don’t get me started on what happened to the Patriots this year! It’s always fun to get a pulse on what fellow Bostonians’ opinions on sports are.

Is this a hockey town? Is it a baseball town? The Patriots are a dynasty. The Celtics are back. Yesterday I asked you on social media to tell me what your favorite Boston sports team is. After tallying up your answers, there is no question who our listeners are most passionate about.

So, cue the organ music and get let’s go Boston (clap, clap, clap clap clap).

We asked. You Answered. These are your favorite Boston Sports teams- ranked.

  • 1. The Boston Bruins

Unequivocally, the clear winner is your Boston Bruins! I’m sure this record breaking season they are having helped to catapult them to the top of your passion list. The Bs earned over 2 times for nods than the 2nd place ranked team in this informal poll.

Honing in on some history 💯

  • 2. The Boston Red Sox

Despite the last couple of seasons, people are still in love with the Boston Red Sox. Perhaps it’s because they pulled off the greatest comeback in the history of sports in 2004, and that, we will never forget. After an 86 year drought they were finally able to bring home the World Series Championship. And in the next 14 years we enjoyed  3 more championships. In baseball, time moves slowly, which gives us a chance to  get to know the players. That may also play into the passion. Plus, there’s historic, funky, always challenging Fenway Park. Nuff said.

  • 3. The New England Patriots

Pulling up soooo close behind the Red Sox, literally a couple of votes shy, are the New England Patriots. I’m sure a few years ago would have been a different story. But football is the #1 sport in American, and no matter what’s happening behind the scenes, we are true to our red, white and blue. Here’s to hoping they figure things out and have a spectacular 2023-2024 season.

    See you in the fall.

  • 4. The Boston Celtics

Growing up, the Celtics were always a conversation. Larry Bird was The Goat. Then came Paul Pierce, KG and Ray Allen- the Big 3. Last year we came so close to bringing home the bacon. But, this year the Celtics are on pace to win it all. Perhaps the lower votes here are just a sign that we are being too complacent about their success. After last year, we just expected it? Whatever the case. You know come the playoffs, we will all be on board.

  • 5. Honorable Mention: The New England Revolution

So, we are a little late to the game on Major League Soccer, here in the US. But Ted Lasso may just be boosting our interest. There were a couple of votes for the New England Revolution.

Regarding our passion for this kind of football, as Ted Lasso famously said,“You say impossible, but all I hear is ‘I’m possible.’”
