It's definitely not the tastiest one out there if you ask me, but every state needs an official muffin, right? In 1986, people must have LOVED the taste of the corn muffin, because the school children of Massachusetts petitioned for the corn muffin to be the official muffin of Massachusetts! And on May 27, 1896, the legislature made it official. No seriously, if you go to the MA Government website you can find that in Part1, Title1,Chapter2, Section 28, "The corn muffin shall be the official muffin of the commonwealth." Apparently, the corn muffin has always been a staple of New England cooking. I think it's dry and hard to eat, but it's not about me.

Besides Massachusetts, there are three other states that have officially adopted a "state muffin."

In the state of New York, the official state muffin is the Apple muffin. Duh, that makes total sense because of New York City being nicknamed "The Big Apple." Do you like apple muffins?

Minnesota Official State Muffin

Blueberry Muffins

Ah, I am so jealous of Minnesota because their official state muffin is the Blueberry muffin. I grew up loving the chocolate chip muffin, but over the years my palate gravitated to a nice blueberry muffin. Hold on, brb. I am booking my flight to Minnesota right now to see if their blueberry muffins are better than the ones here.

Washington Official State Muffin

Wait, what? You're telling me that the official state muffin for the state of Washington is ALSO the blueberry muffin? I feel like there should be a competition here to see what state makes a better blueberry muffin, and the loser has to change the official state muffin. I mean, there are so many others to choose from! Chocolate chip, rhubarb, zucchini, chocolate. You get my point.
