So, opening day at Fenway Park wasn’t what we hoped for. Despite a valiant comeback late in the game, it was a disappointing loss, to say the least. But if you stuck with the boys in the red stockings through the weekend, you would seen some heroics. Late in the game on Saturday and there were triumphs over turmoil, as the Sox fought hard and got lucky. On Sunday, the bats were alive earlier and more often, as Boston took the series over Baltimore. But it was the bat of a newly aquired team member that had everyone asking, or googling, Who is Adam Duvall? Fun facts about the new, red hot, Red Sox player are found below.

Adam Duvall didn’t have a great opening day with his new team, then again, no Red Sox player did. But on day 2, game 2, it was a different story. The outfielder went 4 for 5 with a walk-off home run. On Sunday, Duvall’s bat stayed hot. He had 3 hits, which included 2 doubles and his 2 run single broke a tie in the 5th inning. Here’s to hoping the bat stays hot, and Adam continues to shine in Boston and with the fans.

 

 

 

  • He's a free agent outfielder

    During the offseason, the aquired Duvall off the free agency market. They signed the 2016 All-Star to a one-year deal worth $7 million.

  • He’s the first player in franchise history to do this

    In Sunday’s game Duvall collected his sixth extra-base hit of the season, and that made him the first player in franchise history with six in his first three games with the team. 

  • He's a veteran player

    This isn’t Adam’s first rodeo, even though he’s one of the “new faces” at Fenway this year. The 34 year old made his MLB debut in 2014. He was drafted in the 11th round of the MLB draft in 2010 by the San Francisco Giants.     According to BaseballReference.com, Adam is 6’1″ tall and weighs 215 pounds. He was born on September 4, 1988 and plays the outfield and first base.

  • He's a happily married man with kids

    According to Sports Lulu, Adam and his wife Michelle were married in December of 2017. They have 2 sons, Stone (born in 2019) and Story (born in 2022).

     

     

  • Adam has more to battle than just pitchers

    The outfielder has been battling Type 1 diabetes since being diagnosed in 2012. Duvall told the Atlanta Journal Constitution, ““I try to stay as on top of it as much as I can. I’m always paying attention to it.” He even carries his insulin pump in his back pocket.

  • He's already won a world series championship and a gold glove

    In his 2nd stint with the Atlanta Braves, in 2021 in the World Series game 5, Duvall hit a two-out, first-inning grand slam. The Braves went on to win the World Series Championship, the first for Adam. He went on to win the National League Gold Glove Award for right field (Wikipedia).
