With World Emoji Day here, I was thinking about those entertaining little digital ditties used to express an emotion, idea, place or person with an image. There is pretty much an emoji for everything and more being added every day. But what about our lovely state of Mass? I found a few that could easily serve as representation of the Bay State. See below: You could use these fun emojis to represent Massachusetts!

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Massachusetts? For those who live outside of the Commonwealth, it’s likely our storied history, the seafood, the ocean and sports. So that’s where I will take you with emojis. For those of us who live here we often overlook all the wonderful things others associate with us. With the exception of our sports teams, we tend to underappreciate how we are represented. So, on World Emoji Day, you could use these fun emojis to represent Massachusetts, and all it’s glory.

So many of us use emojis every day in texts and emails. There are no state flags, as of yet, to honor each state. Consider these fun emojis to represents Massachusetts. See if this person you are writing to gets it. If they are from Mass, they likely will connect the dots. Hey, it’s worth a try. We all tend to over use certain emojis like laughing, crying and hearts. Put these Massachusetts-inspired emojis to the test!

Why is July 17 World Emoji Day? As explained on worldemojiday.com: “July 17 is famously displayed on the 📅 Calendar Emoji, which is why we chose it as the date for World Emoji Day.” Now we know! Have fun celebrating! Download Smile Emoji Happy Royalty-Free Vector Graphic - Pixabay

  • 2. The Goat

No doubt Tom Brady is the GOAT when it comes to his football career. But he’s also the GOAT of the goat emoji. It’s often used for other celebs now, but it was first widely used when referring to the greatest of all time in football, Tom Brady.

  • 3. Beans

Despite our distaste for the term, much of the good old USA often refers to Boston as “Beantown.”  Centuries ago, Native Americans cooked their beans with maple syrup and often added in venison and corn, according to the Maine Folklife Center. Our first settlers embraced legumes and according to folklore, sailors and those merchants who passed through Boston would enjoy a quick and inexpensive meal of beans. That eventually lead to the “Beantown” nickname.

Here comes the storied history… Of course people associate Massachusetts with Salem, and the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 and 1693.  You could add this emoji to a friend when mentioning Massachusetts.
