If they use even one of the MassDOT plow names you suggested, we’ll consider it a big win for the ROCK 92.9 listening audience.
Apparently undeterred by the spotty history of such initiatives, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation is bravely asking the schoolchildren of Massachusetts, who are not known for their restraint or decorum, to name 12 state-owned snowplows that will be clearing the streets this winter season.
Chianca goes on to remind us of the infamous “Boaty McBoatface” incident from back in 2016. The British government didn’t end up embracing democracy and going with “Boaty McBoatface” for their multi-million dollar research ship, unfortunately. Here’s hoping MassDOT will do the right thing.
Your MassDOT Plow Names Are Hilarious
Of course, I did the exact same thing Boston.com did: asked YOU what you’d name the plows. Granted, you don’t have a say. Unless you’re an elementary or middle-schooler here in the Commonwealth. If that’s the case, get your class on it and suggest the most ridiculous name you can muster. I’m talking to you, Kade.
Speaking of ridiculous names, you came up with some real gems when I put the question to you yesterday. Here’s a few:
Plow Do You Do?
Mighty Mighty BossPlow
Blizzard Of Ozz
General Plow’s Chicken
Plow And Stars
and, my personal favorite (so far):
These came from the ROCK 92.9. Facebook page, and I’ve shared the post below. You can take a look at some of the other suggested names and, after you’ve liked the page, add your own name to the list. We got a couple on Twitter, too. I’ll keep an eye on MassDOT and keep my fingers crossed that one of our names sticks.
