7 Carly Pearce Songs That Paved Her Way To A Grammy
Not all country stars, or country superstars for that matter, can say they are Grammy winners. It's arguably the most coveted award in the music business and is voted on by music peers. Some artists never get a single Grammy nod in their careers, even though they sell millions and millions of albums worldwide.
That is not the case for Carly Pearce. She won her first Grammy earlier this year (2023) in the "Best Duo/Group Performance" category for "Never Wanted To Be That Girl," a duet with Ashley McBryde.
Carly said shortly after she won her Grammy with her friend Ashley, "We just learned that this is the first time that all females have won this award in this particular category. I always loved Ashley's music. I just was a fan and asked her if she'd write a song with me. So, to see this song do what it's done. And just continue to show the girls that are coming up behind us that you can write your truth, and you can do everything that you want in this business. I feel very, very lucky and to do it with somebody that I respect so much as an artist and as a person."

7 - "Closer to You" - (2018)

6 - "Hide the Wine" - (2017)
BMLGPearce said that she wanted to record the song before she even had a record contract and was able to record it after another artist (Little Big Town) had declined it. The song is about "having a little too much to drink and then calling an old flame that you probably shouldn't."
5 - "Every Little Thing" - (2017)
BMLGHer debut single and her very first number-one song. Carly wrote the song with Emily Shackelton and Busbee, who worked with many artists and died of brain cancer in 2019. Busbee also produced the song.
4 - "Next Girl" - (2020)
BMLGThis song has a lot of sass to it. This song was co-written by Pearce not long after her divorce from Michael Ray and was the lead single from her third studio album, "29: Written in Stone."
3 - "What He Didn't Do" - (2022)
BMLGA song about what her significant other does not do in the relationship. After the song was released, Pearce asked her fans on social media to relate to the song by sharing what their exes did not do.
2 - "I Hope You're Happy Now" (with Lee Brice) - (2019)
BMLGCarly co-wrote "I Hope You're Happy Now" with Luke Combs, Randy Montana, and Jonathan Singleton. Recorded as a duet with Lee Brice, it told the story of a breakup from both sides and was inspired by her own past relationship. Combs was originally going to be featured on the song, but when he chose to step down, Pearce reached out to Brice, who was impressed by the lyrics.
