Power Has Been Turned Off In Lawrence, Andover, and North Andover After Multiple Explosions
Power has been turned off in multiple areas after dozens of explosions were reported in Lawrence, Andover, and North Andover.
WCVB is reporting first responders were dispatched to as many as 70 fires in the last couple hours.
The shocking events unfolded around rush hour, as people were beginning to return to their homes after work.
At this time, it appears the explosions are related to an issue with the gas lines.
Columbia Gas is currently working to depressurize the lines.
Local officials have urged all Columbia Gas customers to turn off their gas (if they know how) at their residence and evacuate.
Both the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal and the FBI are monitoring the situation.
A press conference originally scheduled for 7 p.m. has been postponed, but we are still expecting the presser to go on.
At least one person has been seriously injured in the ordeal.
