Kelly Clarkson kicked of hosting the 2019 Billboard Music Awards by sitting next to actor Terry Crews and chatting it up only to be approached by Florida Georgia Line, whose seats she had taken. It was obviously a skit, but it was a reference to the ACM Awards last month, when she was actually mistaken for being a seat filler.

The FGL guys acted like they didn't know her and then she started to sing their hit "Meant To Be." Then Kelly jumped out of the seat and went on to sing several big hits, including Dan + Shay's "Tequilla."

To finish out the fun bit, former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, dressed as a cop, then came back to "remove" Clarkson from the show when Paula Abdul came up behind Gronk and appeared not to know her as well, to which Kelly snapped, "Come on Paula, you discovered me." That, of course, was a reference to the first season of American Idol, on which Abdul was a judge.
