Jordan Davis Talks Success, New Albums, and Becoming a New Dad
You know Jordan Davis from his two platinum singles, “Singles You Up” and “Take It From Me,” and now the up and coming country artist has another notch on his belt – playing Country 102.5’s Street Party 2 on Lansdowne Street. Before he took the stage, Jordan talked with Jackson Blue about his rocketing success.
“I moved to Nashville to write songs, I never played a show, never played with a full band. I had only played one full band show whenever I signed my record deal,” Jordan said. “There’s still some things I’m learning as an artist. To think of where I’m at now, never in a million years I would have thought that would’ve happened.”
Jordan tells Jackson he still loves to write songs. He wrote all of the tracks on his debut album, and plans to be a writer on every song on his second album. He says writing is something that he’s always going to do, but he’s hoping to focus on the performance side to hone that skill even more.
“We put a lot of work into [the shows],” Jordan explained. “My band does a really, really good job at constantly getting better at it.”
Speaking of that second album, progress is definitely being made, Jordan tells Jackson that he has a half dozen songs already recorded.
“I’m hoping to get it out possibly this year, possibly early next year,” Jordan said, adding that the next radio single after “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot” will most likely come from the new record.
When not writing or performing, Jordan is preparing to become a new dad, with a baby due in mid-November.
“I’m nervous as hell,” he laughed. “I’m excited. I’m more anxious, obviously it’s gonna take me off the road for a little bit. I think it’s about time we regroup and focus on some other things.”
He adds that taking a little break will also allow him to get more creative while spending time with his new family.
