Mitchell Tenpenny Says He’s Excited About Brand New Music Coming Soon
The first thing we learned about Mitchell Tenpenny when he stopped by to chat with Jackson Blue at Street Party 2 on Sunday, was that he was once in a screamo band in high school.
“I call it ‘farm emo’ in Nashville now, it’s a bunch of people that used to be in this rock, hardcore, emo bands, and now we’re just writing country music, I don’t know.” “You have to get that teenage angst out, I think, and then you come back home to where it all started.”
Born and raised in Nashville, Mitchell’s family was rooted in music, but he wasn’t sure if it was the path he was going to take at first.
“I thought I was gonna play sports, and I didn’t grow as tall as the doctor told me. Then I got to college and I didn’t want to get up every morning at 4:30 for workouts anymore, so I’ll just try this music thing.”
Mitchell is getting ready to head out on tour with Luke Bryan and his Farm Tour starting this Thursday.
“I’m just honored that Luke asked us, dude, I mean, Luke’s incredible,” Mitchell said. “Just to have this opportunity, we were like, yes please, whatever we gotta to do, let’s do it.”
There’s also a buzz of new music coming to radio, Mitchell tells us he should know what his next song being released to the airwaves is toward the end of this week, and it’s brand new.
“You haven’t heard this song, that’s the point,” Mitchell told Jackson. “New music. Brand new music. This isn’t coming off the record, this is new stuff, which I’m excited about.”
