Many Massachusetts Health Care Workers To Receive Hazard Pay
Thousands of healthcare workers in the state of Massachusetts are getting what most would say is a well-deserved raise, after their union stepped in over the weekend.
Pay could be going up as much as $10 an hour for workers represented by AFSCME Council 93, and will last until at least May 30th, if not longer, according to the State House News Service.
“We’re pleased to deliver this hard-earned pay increase for our members,” the union’s Executive Director Mark Bernard told Boston 25 News.
“The agreement we signed with the state calls these increases ‘pay incentives,’ but we view them primarily as well-deserved recognition for the courage and dedication AFSCME human services professionals are exhibiting on the job every single day and night.”
The increase looks to benefit around 6,500 healthcare workers on the front line.
