Fan Favorite Richard Seymour Voted Into The Patriots Hall Of Fame!
One of the leagues top defensive players has been named to the New England Patriots Hall of Fame!
He was a team favorite and fan favorite, and now the fans have spoken! They voted Defensive End Richard Seymour into the Pat’s Hall of Fame.
Seymour was drafted by the Patriots back in 2001 (no. 6 overall), and quickly emerged as one of the league’s best. After 8 seasons with New England, and 3 Super Bowl rings, Richard will take his place as the 30th inductee into the Patriots Hall of Fame, after beating out Mike Vrabel and Bill Parcells.
Although Seymour didn’t finish his career with the Pats, (he was traded to Oakland in 2009), he will forever be the ultimate Patriot in fans’ eyes. Congrats to #93 for a remarkable career and this deserving honor!
Here’s the official statement from Robert Kraft:
“Richard Seymour laid the foundation for a defense that helped propel the Patriots to three Super Bowl championships in his first four seasons in the NFL. Richard was the consummate professional and leader, always accepting the roles he was assigned, putting team goals ahead of personal ones, and in turn, raising the game of everyone around him. Yet as great as he was as a player, he is a Hall of Fame-caliber person, as well. I couldn’t be happier for Richard and the Seymour family, and I am looking forward to celebrating with them as Richard takes his rightful place in the Patriots Hall of Fame and very soon the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.”
