Thomas Rhett Shared A Touching New Song He Wrote With His Dad, “Things Dads Do”
It’s been said that the pen is mightier than the sword… Get ready because these words, this song, will cut right to your heart.
Last night Thomas Rhett shared a song he wrote with his dad, award winning Nashville songwriter, Rhett Akins. Apparently, he meant to share it for Father’s Day, but I’m sure life (and three daughters) delayed the intentions.
Anytime is a good time for a Thomas Rhett song. The man with the mighty pen has a magical touch with everything he creates.
Take a listen to moving new music and the lyrical genius of Thomas Rhett
On a personal note, and strangely ironic, shortly after I listened to this song, I opened up a letter sent from my father. Since I was in college, he has been sending my “FYIs.” These are usually inspirational messages he finds or clippings from newspapers and print-outs from things he reads on-line.
It just hit me that here I was, all emotional over a song about dads I just listened to from Thomas Rhett, then opening up another FYI from my dad. Dads are our shoulder to lean on, our inspiration and motivation, our very human super heroes. And you don’t need a holiday to realize and appreciate that.
BTW, here’s the FYI my dad sent to me
So, if you can… hug your dad. And take every piece of advice and hold it near.
